HOWOGEHOWOGE low-energy building

For a better climate

The HOWOGE refurbished the twin high-rise building at Schulze-Boysen-Strasse 35/37 in 2006. At the same time, it was converted into Europe's largest low-energy building. Innovative technical standards for energy saving were applied in this national German pilot project of the German Energy Agency (dena), in cooperation with the Federal German Ministry for Transport, Construction and Urban Development.

The tenants of the 296 flats are able to look forward to reduced operating costs, the environment will enjoy fewer pollutants. The annual energy requirement could be reduced by 30-50% through this refurbishment! This means a reduction of 435 tons of carbon dioxide per year.

On the following pages, we would like to give you a comprehensive idea of our building project, which met with a lot of international interest. You may download materials and learn everything about Europe's largest low-energy building.
